August Orientation

Monday, August 20, 2018 - 12:45pm to Saturday, August 25, 2018 - 12:45pm

Undergraduate Students

Orientation in August consists of three sessions, geared toward three different populations of incoming undergraduate students:

  1. International Student Orientation: Monday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 22

International students may plan to arrive on campus on Sunday, August 19th. If you arrive before then, please make arrangements to stay off campus until Sunday, August 20th.  For students from outside of the United States starting at CCAD in the fall, we offer a mandatory three-day orientation geared toward helping you transition to living in the U.S., and specifically Columbus.

During orientation, students will meet with your international mentors, learn about Visa regulations and international student insurance, get a class schedule, move into their room, go shopping for essentials, set up a bank account and a new cell phone and more! More information will be emailed to International Students.

  1. Transfer & Non-Traditional Student Orientation: Thursday, August 23

This session is geared toward students who have spent time at another college or university and are transferring credit to CCAD, as well as those over the age of 21. This session is tailored for students who have college transition experience and want to get the nuts and bolts of what they need to know about CCAD. This session begins around 10 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. Students will meet with faculty in their major, hear about support services offered, meet Student Orientation Leaders and have the opportunity to speak to an advisor about their class schedule. There will also be time to complete any other business you might have with the college prior to the beginning of classes. Family members are welcome to attend.

  1. New Student Orientation: Friday, Aug. 25

This one-day session is available to new students to prepare for the beginning of the semester.

During orientation, you will:

  • Meet and mingle with your Orientation Leaders, current students who will lead you through orientation and share their insider knowledge about CCAD.
  • Learn more about your major and meet with faculty have a classroom experience
