TAKE ACTION

CCAD students are invited to join in a Women’s March Ohio rally at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10:30 a.m. The rally will be followed by a march to the Ohio Statehouse.

Prepare for the rally and march by joining Empowering Females on Campus for a poster-making event on Friday, Jan. 19.

 

GET ENGAGED

The Chroma Student Committee is looking for submissions for Chroma 2018 branding. Submissions are due to Maria D’Apolito at mdapolito@ccad.edu by Friday, Jan. 26. Please be prepared to present your submissions at the Chroma Student Committee meeting on Friday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to noon in Crane MPR.

 

IMPORTANT ACADEMIC DEADLINES

Considering adding classes this semester? Don’t delay. The last day to add classes for spring is Monday, Jan. 22, at 5 p.m.
 
Seniors, take notice! Monday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. is also the application deadline for May 2018 graduation and commencement participation. Pick up your application at the One-Stop Student Services Office.

 

CAN'T-MISS FINANCIAL AID DEADLINES

Don’t miss important financial aid deadlines coming up on Thursday, Feb. 1. This is key: you will not be able to register for the fall unless your Financial Aid file is complete, loan applications are submitted, and the Individual Financial Aid Plan form is submitted.

Don’t miss your chance! Applications to run for a position on the Student Government Association open Monday, Jan. 22.

Applications for the Spring 2018 Art Fair on Saturday, April 7, are open Monday, Jan. 22, throughTuesday, Feb. 20! Sale proceeds from the juried Art Fair go directly to the artists, so don’t delay. .

 

OWLS BASKETBALL TAKES OFF

Help CCAD’s basketball teams (yes, plural) fly high by cheering them on as they take on other players around Columbus. This season, we’re introducing the new women’s team, the Lady Owls, who will take on Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 8:15 p.m. The men’s team, the Night Owls, will face off against the Double Dribblers on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 12:15 p.m. All games are at the Anheuser Busch Sports Park.

Be part of the annual student show at the Sean Christopher Gallery in the Short North: Submit your workaround the theme of "The Color of Love" through Sunday, Jan. 21. Cash prizes are available, and the show will be on view Feb. 3 – 24.

Students at all levels, join Career Services on Thursday, Jan. 25, to hear about the Idea Foundry and opportunities for entrepreneurs in Columbus. 

 

PUT YOUR BRAND ON CHROMA

Submit your branding ideas for Chroma by Friday, Jan. 26, for Chroma Student Committee consideration. Be prepared to present your submissions at 11 a.m. Jan. 26 at the student committee meeting, which will see the top three selected (and later voted on by the entire senior class).Key academic deadlines, plus opportunities to get active and engaged on- and off-campus .

Develop leadership skills that will help you positively address issues of diversity and promote social change — applications are open now for the 2018 CCAD Diversity Retreat on Thursday, Feb. 15, throughSaturday, Feb. 17. Spaces are limited, so apply now.

CCAD Student Government Association President Joseph “Guy” Gibboney (Industrial Design, 2018) recently took a look at the future of Columbus' infrastructure. Check out his 3D model on the cover of The Columbus Dispatch’s CbusNEXT series.

 

DRAWING A FINE LINE

Linework, curated by Samantha Nawrath (History of Art & Visual Culture, 2019) is open this month at Wild Goose Creative and features work by fellow CCAD students and alumni, including Taylor Chiu (Illustration, 2019), Chloe Lillash (Photography, 2019), Danny McCallum (Photography, 2018), Hana Mendel (Photography, 2018), and Nawrath herself.

 

ADGRAPH STUDENTS DRAFT BREWDOG BRANDING

CCAD AdGraph seniors spent last semester working on a project for BrewDog, the Scottish craft beer company that opened its North American location in Columbus, with a goal of helping them differentiate the well-regarded craft brewer among its customers. Their recommendations included everything from unique tap handles to social media campaigns to interactive store events.
