Don’t forget to set your alarm  the first day of class is Monday, Aug. 28. But first, start the school year right at Welcome Fest Friday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. on the Quad! There, you’ll find free food, games, inflatables, and entertainment from DJ Donnie Moss & Graphic Designer.

And seniors, get ready for the first of your #ccadlasts! There will be an opportunity to get a special Class of 2018 T-shirt for the first 100 people to attend.

Welcome Week

The Office of Student Engagement and the Student Programming Board are ensuring you start off the academic year right with free events during the first week of school. They include:

Creative Control Fest = free

Creative Control Fest is Thursday, Sept. 7  – Saturday, Sept. 9, this year, and as one of the hosts, we’re extending a special offer to you. Purchase your CCF6 tickets at a reduced student rate of $20 (using the code CCADlove), send your receipt our way ([email protected]) within a week of the fest, and we’ll reimburse the ticket price.

More good news: We’ll have free table space available for CCAD students who want to sell their wares at CCF6. Just email us here!

Starting tomorrow: Alan Shields and Stitch

See Alan Shields: A Different Kind of Painting, which features more than 40 of the late artist’s radical textile works that challenge the notion of painting, and Stitch, which features textile works from contemporary artists working around the world. Both go on view starting Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Beeler Gallery. Admission is free.

Fashion Show's new home

Get ready for Friday, May 11, 2018, when the annual CCAD Fashion Show makes a new home in the newly renovated Greater Columbus Convention Center, home to the largest collection of local contemporary art. Get a sneak peek at the convention center during a tour on Saturday, Sept. 2. Details here.

Cuppa competition

Your love for coffee (and your artistic talents) could make you a prize-winner. The Coffee Art Project is a competition based around every artist’s favorite drink  coffee. Finalists will be exhibited and judged at the New York Coffee Festival Friday, Oct. 13 – Sunday, Oct. 15, with a $1,500 price for the winner. There will be opportunities for artists’ work to be sold at the festival and online, and half of sale proceeds will benefit Project Waterfall, which brings clean water to coffee-growing communities.

The public registration deadline to compete in The Coffee Art Project is Friday, Sept. 1, but CCAD students can get an extension by emailing Mallory Tannous at [email protected]. The submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 29. For more competition details, and to register, click here.
