Art, up close

Get up close with Alan Shields: A Different Kind of Painting and Stitch, on view now at Beeler Gallery, with a tour from the shows’ curator, Assistant Director of Exhibitions Ian Ruffino, Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 3:30 p.m. You can also meet new Director of Exhibitions Jo-ey Tang before the tour steps off in the gallery, located in Canzani Center.

CCAD goes to Mars

COSI Chief Scientist Paul Sutter visits Wednesday, Aug. 30, to talk about the challenges of living on Mars — and portraying it in exhibitions and immersive experiences. The talk, which is open to the public, is part of Innovation and Culture, a junior Industrial Design class. More details here.

Explore Columbus

There’s a lot to do on campus here at CCAD, but don’t forget to explore the rest of the city, too! Head to the Short North Saturday, Sept. 2, for Gallery Hop (held the first Saturday of the month), including a special tour of the newly renovated Greater Columbus Convention Center. Find more CCAD Picks here.

Hurricane Harvey help

CCAD students and their families are among those in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey. Want to give to organizations working in the area? Consider donating to the American Red Cross (you can give money by visiting their website, calling 1.800.RED CROSS, or texting HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation). Learn more about organizations helping in the area with Charity Navigator, which includes a Hurricane Harvey-specific section.
