Welcome week

 

Kick off the school year at Welcome Fest Friday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. on the Quad! There, you’ll find free food, games, inflatables, and entertainment from DJ Donnie Moss & Graphic Designer.

And seniors, get ready for the first of your #CCADlasts! The first 100 seniors to visit our PBR-sponsored Beer Garden will get a special Class of 2018 T-shirt, so come snag a beer and toast the beginning of your senior year.

Free Fashion Meets Music Festival tix

Grab your student I.D. and head to Fortress Obetz Friday, Aug. 18, and Saturday, Aug. 19, for free admission to the Fashion Meets Music Festival, a weekend of music from the likes of Third Eye Blind, Tegan and Sara, St. Lucia, DNCE, Fetty Wap, COBI, and many others, plus runway shows where you’ll see fashion designs like none other.


 

Money matters for artists

CCAD has partnered with Kadenze, a company that specializes in offering college-level content to the public, to offer an online course about on finance for creative entrepreneurs featuring Elaine Grogan Luttrull, Department Head of the Business and Entrepreneurship program here at CCAD. The first four sessions are free and cover goal setting, strategic planning for creative careers, and budgeting. Read more here.

Upcoming exhibitions

See more than 30 textile works (including some never-before-seen pieces) in Alan Shields: A Different Kind of Painting, on view starting Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Beeler Gallery. Alan Shields is complemented by a second exhibition, Stitch, which features textile works from contemporary artists working around the world.

Admission to both exhibitions is free and open to the public, and an opening reception is scheduled forThursday, Sept. 7.

Ampersand Emporium & The Market hours

Summer hours for Ampersand Emporium are in effect until Friday, Aug. 21.

The Market will resume its regular hours starting Wednesday, Aug. 24.
