Wellness Week begins
Wellness Week starts today! Enjoy free snacks, helpful talks, and even adorable dogs to cuddle — plus other handy tips and tricks to help you get through the semester. The week’s events include:
- On-site farm stand with cooking demo, Monday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Visit with therapy dogs, Tuesday, Oct. 24, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Free HIV/STI testing, Thursday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Register now
Secure your spot for spring semester classes. Graduate students, Seniors (students with 90 or more credit hours), and Juniors (students with at least 60 credit hours) can already register for the next semester. The remainder of the pre-registration schedule is as follows:
- Sophomores (at least 30 credit hours) — Monday, Oct. 30
- Freshmen — Monday, Nov. 13
Registration details for first-year students
First-year students must see an advisor before they can register on Monday, Nov. 13. Advising appointments are made at the One-Stop or by calling 614.222.3295. Students are encouraged to make appointments for the week before Monday, Nov. 13, or the week registration begins. Questions? Email [email protected].
Latinx/Hispanic mixer
The Office of Student Engagement & Inclusion invites all Latinx/Hispanic faculty, staff, and students to mix and mingle today until noon. We’re looking for your thoughts on programming you’d like to see that celebrates, embraces, and educates CCAD on Latinx/Hispanic culture. Light refreshments will be provided.
Fall studio days — special hours
Fall Studio Days are this Tuesday, Oct. 24, and Wednesday, Oct. 25. Academic labs and facilities will be open as normal, as will Ampersand Emporium, but there will be some adjustments to regular hours in other campus facilities and offices. Special hours during Fall Studio Days include the following:
- The Market — open for brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
- The Café — open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- One Stop (Financial Aid, Registrar, Advising) will be open for regular hours on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Open on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for walk-in appointments only.
- Packard Library — open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pizza with a Purpose
Join Taylor Watkins, Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Inclusion, and other CCAD community members for Pizza with a Purpose on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. This monthly workshop provides space for conversations around diversity and inclusion, including, this week LGBTQ+ educational bingo co-hosted by the Queer Alliance.
It's lunchtime
Join the Student Government Association for lunch at The Market from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to chat about topics around campus (or just to make friends!). The weekly lunches begin Thursday, Oct. 26.
White Tears discussion
First-year students (and anyone else interested) are invited to join Writing, Literature & Philosophy faculty to discuss this year’s summer reading selection, Hari Kunzru’s White Tears on Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. The open discussion counts as New Student Seminar credit.
Embrace the Curve
Check out student-designed plus-size clothing in Embrace the Curve, an exhibition created as part of a collaboration with retailer ELOQUII. The exhibition will open with a celebratory reception on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., where ELOQUII will announce the student-designed garment that will be produced and sold online.

SGA event: Dr. Corn & IT
Get the latest news from CCAD’s President, Dr. Melanie Corn, and updates from the college’s IT team at a Student Government Association-sponsored gathering on Monday, Oct. 30.

Planning to attend the Connections Career Fair on Friday, Nov. 3? Attend a prep workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 31, first.

Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to join in the conversation around implicit bias and gender norms at a workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m.

Learn about Columbus’ diverse community through a free Magic School Bus ride! On Wednesday, Nov. 1, we’ll be heading to the Global Gallery coffee shop (and catching a performance from Lisa Bella Donna), and on Monday, Nov. 6, we’ll enjoy Nigerian, African, and West African cuisine at the Intercontinental Restaurant.
Opera on the edge: #UncleJohn
Meet Uncle John — aka Don Giovanni — in this modern, one-hour program from Opera Columbus. It’s designed for those who are unfamiliar with opera, and tickets for the performances (5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29; Sunday, Nov. 5; and Sunday, Nov. 12) are just $10 for college students.

Shop local — very local — this holiday season. Ampersand Emporium is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will have Saturday hours starting Nov. 18.
