Get on board

CCAD’s partnership with the Central Ohio Transit Authority provides you unlimited access to COTA bus service in Columbus and central Ohio. All you have to do is swipe your CCAD student ID card when you board a COTA bus. This service for students returns starting Monday, Aug. 13, and is available only during the school year (fall and spring semesters). Riding COTA is an environmentally friendly way to save on transportation costs and explore Columbus!

Welcomefest

Kick off the school year at Welcomefest Friday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m. on the Quad! There, you’ll find free food, games, inflatables, music, and more!

Welcome Week

The Office of Student Engagement and the Student Programming Board are ensuring you start off the academic year right with free events during the first week of school. They include:

Work it

Looking for work on campus? On-campus jobs are now available for you to check out at CCADcareers.com, our campus job board featuring full time, internships, freelance, part-time and on-campus jobs across all majors. Apply through the job board, and the department hiring will contact you if they want to do an interview. If you have trouble logging in, please email [email protected].

Resumes are required, and the first time you upload yours to the job board, it needs to be approved. To get approval, upload your resume on CCADcareers.com by clicking “Documents,” then “Approved,” and then upload your resume as a PDF. If you’ve done this before, you do not need approval again. This step is only for the first time you upload a resume.

Save the date! Our fall Connections Career Fair will be held on campus on Friday, Nov. 9. This is the only on-campus career fair we host during the academic year, so don’t miss it. In the coming weeks, we will share more details on how to participate.

Students doing a fall internship where they plan to work 240 hours or more may be eligible to take the three-credit internship course. In order to enroll, you’ll need to get your internship approved by Career Services. The process starts on the Career Services website, where you will download the Internship Course Application, to be completed by you, and the Employer/Student Agreement, to be completed by your employer. Turn these in to Jordan Bell by appointment or during walk-in hours (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday 10 a.m. to noon). The deadline to enroll is Friday, Aug. 17, but you should take care of this early in case there are any issues getting your internship approved.

Get in the Cloud

All first-year students will need subscriptions to Adobe’s Creative Cloud. You can buy a Creative Cloud license from Adobe’s Student and Teacher discount program.

Hit the (text)books

Don’t forget that you can purchase textbooks through CCAD’s online textbook site until Saturday, Sept. 29. To create your textbook account, use your full CCAD email as your username and your student ID# as your default password (for example, Username: [email protected] / Password: P000074828. Any amount (up to $300) used toward textbook purchases will be deducted from your supply store account, and the remainder can be used for purchases in the store.

Changes to preferred name, pronouns

CCAD recognizes that students may prefer to use a name other than their legal name for a variety of reasons. Students who wish to use a preferred name can do so by following the steps outlined here. Keep in mind that a legal name is still required on certain college documents such as transcripts, pay checks, and billing statements. Students may notify CCAD about their preferred gender pronouns by contacting the Registrar and Director of One-Stop Student Services, Michele Kibler at [email protected]. Upon request, the Registrar will notify faculty members about a student’s preferred pronouns that correspond with their gender identity.
