Jennifer Pick was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated from law school in 1984 and subsequently completed a master’s degree in Environmental Studies in 1992, while working full time. She worked for Cleary Ross doing general law, then Phillips Fox, in commercial real estate, and finally Arthur Robinson and Hedderwicks (now Allens) specializing in international and domestic environmental law.

 In addition to her legal practice, she taught environmental law in the School of Environmental Planning at the University of Melbourne. She also authored and taught the inaugural environmental law course as part of the Masters of Cleaner Production Degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and taught environmental law as part of Corporate Environmental Management Seminars for Monash University.

 She was a member of the Board or the Environment Defenders Office of Victoria, a public interest environmental law organization providing free legal advice and representation and chaired the Environmental Issues Committee and Animals and Wildlife Committee at the Law Institute of Victoria.

Pick was a member of the Victorian and National Executive Committees of the National Environmental Law Association and was actively involved in the organization of the 13th Annual Conference which drew attendees from around the world.

In 1996, she moved to Columbus with her husband lain. She worked for Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease in the Property and Environmental Law department, then joined the Nature Conservancy in development for two years.

For the last 19 years, Pick has been enjoying raising their two daughters. She volunteered extensively at their schools and traveled back to Australia multiple times a year to care for her aging parents. She is very interested in environmental issues, including organic agriculture, alternative energy, species conservation and community programs such as the Columbus wide pollinator gardens initiative. Pick and her husband are mentors of the Contemporaries at the Columbus Museum of Art and collectors of fine art.
