4 ways we'll help you live your best life with adult classes here at CCAD
If there’s one failsafe way to stay young at heart as you get older, it’s this: Never stop learning. CCAD’s slate of Continuing & Professional Studies courses provide a healthy dose of creativity for students at all different levels and stages of their lives.
In fall 2019, CCAD is introducing new non-degree certificate programs for adults, beginning with one focused on Visual Storytelling and Self Publication.
“The programs are designed to bring to light a person’s professional credentials and allow them to develop a meaningful portfolio to take to employers,” says Christine Hill, CCAD’s Director of Continuing & Professional Studies.
Working with professional artists and instructors has benefits both mental and physical. Here are a few ways professional art and design classes can help you live a happy and healthy life.
1. Being creative relieves stress
Making art, whether it’s sketching, sculpting, or making collages, can help relax your mind and body. It’s even been used to help treat mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
2. Creative skills can translate into any workplace
Some of CCAD’s most popular classes for adults involve Adobe Creative Suite software like Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Both young entrepreneurs and mid-to-late-career professionals looking for a change flock to these classes to learn how to use the professional creative software.
3. Art classes can help fend off dementia
Studies show that as people age, the more they stay engaged in learning processes the healthier their brain is. Art classes offer deep process learning that allows people to stay vibrant and active in their lives.
4. The more art you make, the healthier you’ll be
A growing population of people who are living longer is looking for ways to stay healthy. Research shows that seniors involved in weekly community-based art programs had better health, fewer doctor visits, and less medication usage a year later.
