Alumna receives grant, invitation to exhibition
Celene Hawkins (CCAD ’92) was awarded one of Summerfair Cincinnati’s 2010 Aid to Individual Artists (AIA) grants and an invitation to participate in the 2013 triennial Summerfair Select exhibition.
She is one of four Cincinnati artists to receive the $3,000 grant for use in the creation of new works. Hawkins will use the grant to help finance an AutoCAD system to expand the possibilities of her work.
Hawkins incorporates aspects of biology, hybridization, organic form and the influence of people to explore the concept of “landscape” in her sculpture. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Cincinnati and is currently a co-partner at her studio, Hawkins & Hawkins Custom.
Summerfair Cincinnati has been supporting Cincinnati artists and arts for more than 40 years. Since the AIA program’s initiation in 1983, the organization has awarded grants to more than 80 artists.
