Alumna to serve as delegate in mom congress

Illustration alumna Hilary (Meyers) Frambes (CCAD 1992) was chosen as the Ohio Delegate to Parenting magazine’s Mom Congress to be held at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., April 10–13.

“When the Mom Congress contest came up, I saw it as an opportunity to have my voice heard regarding the importance of art education,” Frambes said. “As a mother of two school-aged children and an art advocate, I’m proud to represent Ohio at the 2011 Mom Congress in Washington, DC this year.”

Frambes volunteers at her children’s school, launching a weekly art enrichment after school program. She is also pursuing her Master of Art Education through University of Florida’s online program and hopes to teach upon graduation.

Parenting magazine launched the Mom Congress initiative in March 2009 to celebrate and connect moms fighting for better schools. During the event, the moms meet with the country's most prominent education and advocacy leaders to discuss the importance of family engagement in helping America achieve its education goals.
