Alumna's long career influences new creative pursuit
An recent article in the Columbus Dispatch spotlighting a local music and arts festival tells the story of how one CCAD alumna left a 20-year design career in pursuit of another successful artistic dream.
Advertising & Graphic Design alumna Wendy Emrey (CCAD 1991) traded commercial design projects for making glass beads and jewelry, which are available in several area galleries.
Through the process known as lampworking, Emrey melts and shapes glass to create unique beads. "I don't make any two pieces the same," she said. "No single bead is perfect, and no two beads are alike—just like each of us."
The Westerville, OH artist began working with glass in 2008 and applies her graphic design and color expertise to each bead. For the third time, her work was entered in the juried art show of the annual Westerville Music & Arts Festival.
