Alumnus presents at Midwest conference
Illustration alumnus Anthony Baker (CCAD 1986) presented at a conference recently about the importance of art in the classroom.
Baker presented with coworker Tammy Thompson during a session at The Ohio State University's Innovate, an annual conference featuring the best uses of technology in teaching and learning at universities and colleges across the Midwest.
Baker co-led the discussion "Teaching Is an Art (Using Art in Teaching)," showing examples of educational drawings, animations, and videos and discussing how these components were integrated into courses to transform learning objectives into tangible concepts for students.
The theme of this year’s conference was transformation. Numerous sessions highlighted the ways that technology can promote dramatic changes in the ability to engage students in the classroom and affect research and field-study opportunities across the globe.
Baker’s illustrations have been published in professional journals, medical textbooks, and other print and web material. He currently works as a medical illustrator in the OSU Health Sciences Library's Medical Visuals team. He is a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) and a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators.
