Alumnus, student take prize in art at the Arnold competition
An alumnus and student took home prizes in the third-annual Art at the Arnold competition, which coincided with the 2012 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH.
Don Slobodien (CCAD 1988) earned first place and a $2,500 prize. Illustration junior Shelby Bertsch placed third, receiving a $500 prize.
The competition comprised more than 50 Columbus artists competing in a three-day event.
It started with a half day of figure drawing and painting athletic models, followed by an afternoon of sketching and gathering references throughout the festival.
Artists spent the second day in a studio work session using materials gathered from the day before. On the final day artists selected one piece to submit for judging. Ron Pizzuti, owner of Pizzuti Companies in Columbus, was the judge for the 2012 competition.
