Award recognizes representational work by alumnus
Alumnus Paul Hamilton (CCAD 1988) recently was announced as the recipient of the Phil Desind Award, given annually by the Butler Institute of American Art to an outstanding representational work.
Hamilton, who studied Illustration at CCAD, was recognized for his oil painting Ohio Steel, Warren, Ohio.
Hamilton’s work is in private collections throughout the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, and Great Britain and his paintings, sculptures and installation media have been shown extensively in numerous gallery and museum shows. More information about Hamilton is available at Hammond Harkins Galleries website.
The award honors the late Phil Desind, longtime director of Capricorn Galleries in Maryland, who gave early recognition to many talented artists and was devoted to the Butler Institute for its efforts to become the country’s bastion of American realism.
