CCAD alumn Manjari Sharma makes a splash in newest residency
Manjari Sharma (Photography, 2004) showcased the latest work from her current project, The Shower Series, and a sampling of her past work, including an interactive video installation at the Squire Foundation in Santa Barbara, California, where she is the Spring Artist in Residence.
Sharma, born and raised in Mumbai, India, makes work rooted in portraiture addressing the issues of identity, multiculturalism, and personal mythology. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Sharma's book, Darshan, is slated to release with Nazraeli press in fall 2019. Her work has been recognized in print and online by NPR, Los Angeles Times, CNN, The New York Times, Vice magazine, and Huffington Post, among other outlets.
