CCAD Fashion students design Pelotonia apparel
In the fall of 2020, Columbus College of Art & Design Fashion Design students had the unique opportunity to create merchandise concepts for Pelotonia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding innovative cancer research. For the project, which took place in a Professional Practice class taught by Assistant Professor Audrey Nicolas, students worked in small groups to create designs based on the stories of cancer survivors they interviewed.
“As designers, most of the time subconsciously we design for ourselves, but this project taught me how to design for someone else and how to share someone else’s story through it, especially when the story is so special,” says Ridhima Batra (Fashion Design, 2022).
At the end of the project, students presented their concepts to representatives from Pelotonia, who selected one design to sell in the Pelotonia shop. To learn about the moving survivor story behind the winning design created by Batra, Nicole Klein (Fashion Design, 2022), and Skylar Rice (Fashion Design, 2022), check out this blog post from Pelotonia.
