CCAD student lends skills to library project

When the Columbus Foundation and Columbus Metropolitan Library teamed up to celebrate the foundation’s 75th anniversary, they turned to a first-year Columbus College of Art & Design student to illustrate the resulting book.

Miles Balfour (Illustration, 2023) was chosen to illustrate Big Book: Voices of Our Future, a collection of 23 essays—one from each CML branch—featuring the thoughts and hopes of Columbus teens.

″[The foundation] was founded on the premise of hope,” Amy Vick, director of marketing and communications for the Columbus Foundation, told Columbus Parent. “So these stories that are included in the book are a kind of terrific testament ... and really illustrate the dreams that [the kids] have for their future and our community’s future.”

Copies of the book are available to borrow through the Columbus library branches, or can be purchased online for $10, with proceeds benefitting the Friends of the Library.
