Columbus College of Art & Design students add ADDYs to their trophy collections

We know Columbus College of Art & Design students are outstanding, but it never hurts to hear it from an outside source.

That’s why we were happybut unsurprisedto hear that 14 of our Advertising & Graphic Design students won first- (Gold) or second-place (Silver) awards at the local American Advertising Awards (ADDYs).

The award ceremony for the central Ohio competition is Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Columbus Museum of Art. The best professional and student work in central Ohio will be recognized at the awards, hosted by the American Advertising Federation Columbus. Local ADDY trophy winners will compete regionally at the district level against entries from Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia; the very best will face off in the national competition.

Student work included real or mock campaigns for nonprofit and commercial brands. The following are awards finalists:

  • Sam Collins (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Space Brew AR Beer Coaster
  • Nicole Cox (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2018), Lily Dent (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2018), and Rachel Meiring (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2018): Diva Cup
  • Sam Harvey (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2020), Audrey Stemen (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019), and Abbey Sutula (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Columbus Children's Theatre (won in two categories)
  • Anita Hernandez  (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2021), for The Honey House (won in two categories)
  • Matthew McClelland (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Evan Williams
  • India Orban (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Let's Guac N' Roll | Guac Fest 2018  and Peace, Love & Pancake Balls
  • Madison Perry (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2020): East End Thrift
  • Justin Remotap (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Little Lion Notebooks
  • Candace Smith (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2019): Whole Cities Foundation (won in two categories)
  • Liz White (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2021): Cremo Men's Skin Care packaging

The judges for this year’s Columbus ADDYs were Columbus Business First Editor in Chief, Doug Buchanan; Digitas Chicago Lead Experience Designer Christin Norris; entrepreneur and Michigan State University instructor Camron Gnass; and writer, producer, and freelance director Janlatae’ (Jan) Mullins.
