Comics & Narrative Practice faculty member talks about body positivity
Laurenn McCubbin, Associate Professor of Comics & Narrative Practice at Columbus College of Art & Design, recently talked to The Columbus Dispatch about a body-positive movement on social media.
McCubbin praised local tattoo artist Sydney Grubb for "for reclaiming a pejorative “sexual demand”—send nudes—while subverting the mainstream cultural expectations of beauty," the Dispatch reported.
“That term is usually almost always a command, and a command that’s used as a super-dismissive thing in internet culture,” McCubbin told the newspaper. “I like the way that the artist is taking that terminology and making it a positive experience.”
