Illustration alumnus publishes first graphic novel
Illustration alumnus Mike Maihack (CCAD 2002) recently published his first graphic novel, Cleopatra in Space: Target Practice.
The action-packed story centers on heroine Cleopatra—a 15-year-old girl who is transported to the future and tasked with saving the galaxy.
Readers familiar with CCAD may notice a subtle nod to the author's alma mater: one of the characters in the book, Admiral Hazlerig, is named after CCAD Illustration Professor Mark Hazlerig.
Maihack is the creator of the popular webcomic Cow & Buffalo and illustrator of the all-ages card game Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule. He has contributed art and stories to books including Jim Henson's The Storyteller; Cow Boy; Geeks, Girls, and Secret Identities; and the Eisner- and Harvey-Award-winning Comic Book Tattoo.
