Lincoln Theatre to honor renowned alumna Aminah Robinson
Renowned CCAD alumna Aminah Robinson will add another impressive feather to her cap on July 26 when she is inducted into the Lincoln Theatre’s Walk of Fame.
Best known for her rag and cloth paintings called RagGonNons, Robinson has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and has work in many private collections. In 2004, she was awarded a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship (commonly called “the genius grant”).
Photographer Kojo Kamau, who also studied at CCAD, will be inducted into the Walk of Fame as well. His work can be seen at the Ohio Craft Museum, the King Arts Complex, and on the Long Street Cultural Wall, a collaborative project with Larry Winston Collins (CCAD 1986).
Established in 2010, the Walk of Fame recognizes Columbus natives who have made outstanding contributions in their professional careers. Past recipients include writer Wil Haygood; jazz organist Hank Marr; and saxophonists Rusty Bryant, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Gene Walker.
This year’s Walk of Fame induction ceremony will start at 7 p.m. on July 26 at the Lincoln Theatre, 769 E. Long St., Columbus, OH, 43203.
