MFA students earn national 40 under 40 honors
The Maryland Federation of Art has selected two CCAD Master of Fine Arts candidates for its 40 Artists Under 40: Young Artist National Showcase. Congratulations to Shannon West (MFA, 2020) and Evan Lockhart (MFA, 2020)!
The organization invited all artists age 40 and under who live in the U.S. to enter their 2D or 3D work to be considered for the “40 Artists Under 40” exhibition, juried by José Ruiz, director of Curatorial Practice MFA program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). The selected works will be exhibited in Chaney Gallery at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts from Jan. 4 to Feb. 29, 2020.
In the meantime, both honorees are featured in current or forthcoming exhibitions. Lockhart’s work is on view at Blurred Expectations, a national juried exhibition at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, now through Jan. 24. And West’s work will be on view in Columbus during 934 Gallery’s December group exhibition, Eat Me; patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable donations for the Mid Ohio Food Bank to the opening reception on Friday, Dec. 6, from 7 to 10 p.m.
