Mona Lisa reimagined

CCAD alumnus Erik Maell (Class of '94) has spent the past 2 decades working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, creating artwork for international clients such as Lucasfilm Ltd, The Walt Disney Corporation, Universal Studios, Topps Trading Card Company, Marvel Comics, and DC Comics. As a fine artist, he has exhibited his paintings in many solo and group shows across the United States and in Europe.

For the past 3 years, he has been researching and compiling artwork for his recently published book, Mona Lisa Reimagined, a compilation of hundreds of pieces of art inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's classic Renaissance masterpiece. Featuring both established and emerging artists from over 50 different countries, the book traces the rich and varied history of Mona Lisa reinterpretations during the past 5 centuries.

Erik currently resides with his family in Nicosia, Cyprus.
