From the New York Times bestseller list to opening a new retail shop in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, this Illustration grad has been busy. Meanwhile, CCAD students past and present hit the pages of Columbus Alive, and several members of the CCAD family take part in a pop-up art exhibition in the Short North.

Columbus Alive took a look at two artists examining issues of faith in their work—and both have CCAD ties. An ongoing body of work, “The Modern Saints,” by Gracie Morbitzer (Interior Design, 2020) takes the stories of saints and portrays them as they would appear if they lived today, and is on view through Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Martin de Porres Center. Sojourners, an exhibition of work by CCAD alum Cody F. Miller (Illustration, 1995), looks at love and sacrifice through the lens of religious beliefs and is on view at the Hayley Gallery through Tuesday, Dec. 4. Read more here.
Tim Bowers (Illustration, 1979) has illustrated more than 50 children’s books, many of them New York Times bestsellers. In August, Bowers and his wife opened The Jolly Dog Art & Gift Shop in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and he was recently subject of a Knox Pages feature profile. Read more here.
CCAD Director of Library Services Leslie Jankowski has been elected to the OhioNET Board of Directors. OhioNET is a membership group for libraries and information centers. Jankowski’s three-year term commences in January 2019. Read more here.
Several artists with CCAD connections will have work featured in an Art Pop Street Gallery show on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Le Meridien The Joseph in the Short North. Artists featured in the show include Illustration Adjunct Instructor David Butler (Illustration, 2006), John Grosvenor (Illustration, 1996), and Kate Morgan (Media Studies Still-Based, 2008), and Alissa Ohashi (Master of Fine Arts, 2019).
