Grace Oller (Fine Arts, 2020) and Julie Green and Regina Zehner (both Studio Art with an Emphasis in the History of Art & Visual Culture, 2020) will showcase their project, In the Essence, as part of a curatorial residency at the Second Sight Project in Franklinton for the month of April. The interdisciplinary installation looks at how architecture, abstraction, and archival work intersect with the politics embedded within place and placelessness. Derick Whitson (Photography, 2014) was named one of 10 En Foco 2019 Photography Fellowship winners. In addition to the $1,000 award the Fellowship recipients will participate in the 2019 Fellowship Group Exhibition (opening Wednesday, June 19, at the Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos in Bronx, NY) and will be featured in En Foco’s Spring/Summer issue in print and online editions. The Smithery, a store and workshop space in Grandview owned by Anne Holman (2002, Fine Arts) and Jen Townsend (2010, Fine Arts) is expanding. The studio and workshop space is moving to a new location, at 1365 Grandview Ave., and the existing location at 1306 Grandview Ave. will double its retail space. Read more here.
