On Wednesday, March 28, CCAD's Industrial Design department presents the 2018 Women in Design Panel. This annual event, which is free and open to the public, brings together successful female designers to provide invaluable professional advice. The event includes a networking social hour followed by a panelist discussion between President Melanie Corn; Amy Hamm, managing director of Bonfire Red and former VP from Resource Ammirati; Jen Burton (Fine Arts, 2000), owner and partner of Seventh Son Brewery; Mackenzie Shaw, director of User Experience Research Nationwide Insurance; and Cori Rowley (Industrial Design, 2008), senior designer at Design Central. Erwin Lian (Media Studies Time-Based, 2004), a cadre of CCAD alumni and faculty, and other world-renowned international artists are part of an exhibition titled INTERLACE, on view in Singapore March 8 – 18 during Singapore Design Week. The show commemorates the journey of Lian’s creation, The Perfect Sketchbook, a project driven by the mission to create the finest quality sketchbook for artists and inspired by his world travels. The work in INTERLACE has been created on The Perfect Sketchbook’s archival-standard watercolor paper. Read more here.

JT Thompson (CCAD) and Ohio Art League present A Place in Time with XYZ, on view through March 30 at OAL’s X Space Gallery at 400 West Rich. Abstract oil painter Thompson is known for his fragmented, labyrinth landscapes. He works in a style he calls Geometric Surrealism, in which physical spaces are abstracted to create a highly distorted vision of reality. He’ll present an artist talk and reception at the space on Friday, March 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. Read more here.
