Public art project at the New Albany Classic

CCAD’s Community Education program is partnering with Sunny95 on a public art project at the 2017 New Albany Classic.

On Sunday, Sept. 24, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., kids and adults at the New Albany Classic can use their handprints to create “sun prints” that will later be incorporated in a tapestry.

CCAD Community Education Assistant Tyler Gaca (Fine Arts, 2017) will use the handprints to create concentric circles that will be displayed at The Center for Family Safety and Healing, a nonprofit that addresses all aspects of family violence, including child abuse and neglect, teen dating abuse, domestic violence and elder abuse.

“We want to promote healing and community support for people who are getting the help they need,” said Christine Hill, CCAD’s Community Education Coordinator. “And the hands symbolize our community.”
