Why I chose CCAD
by Sarah Ribble
Columbus has always been my home so I think part of me always knew that I would attend CCAD.
I started taking Saturday Morning Art Classes when I was in 5th grade and continued to take them off and on until I graduated from high school. I actually won my first class by earning Best of Show in the elementary school division at Grove City's Arts in the Alley Art Show!
Growing up I had always gravitated towards the fine arts, specifically painting, but during my junior hear of high school I became very interested in fashion and fashion design. I decided to participate in CCAD's College Preview program the summer before my senior year so that I could get a better idea about what to expect as a fashion design major.
College Preview was a blast! It was such an awesome experience to be able to stay in the dorms and to really get an idea of what college life would be like at CCAD. After my summer experience I was 100% sure that I wanted to pursue fashion design.
I started my college search with CCAD in mind and eventually narrowed my search down to three schools: Kent State, SCAD, & CCAD. I visited all three schools several times and ultimately I was torn between SCAD & CCAD (Savannah definitely has the better weather!).
When it was time to make my final choice the decision was less about stats and dollar signs than it was about where I would be more comfortable and where I could see myself being the happiest. With those standards in mind I chose CCAD. I can't imagine any college having a more welcoming and accepting atmosphere than CCAD has. CCAD felt like home.
It has now been my home for four years and they have been the best four years of my life. During my time at CCAD I have developed lasting friendships and had the most incredible experiences. If I had to do it all again, I would choose CCAD in a heartbeat!
