Celebrating AAPI heritage in March

Although Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is typically celebrated in May, Columbus College of Art & Design is marking the occasion early this year, with a full slate of activities honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander culture. Plans include:
- AAPI Month: Namba screening (hosted by Student Engagement), 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, Joseph V. Canzani Center Screening Room. See Namba and hear from its director, Emily Momohara.
- AAPI Month: Lantern Making (Student Engagement), Tuesday, March 19. Lantern-making will happen at 11 a.m. in the Crane Multipurpose Room, then participants will reconvene at 7 p.m. to light up the Quad.
- AAPI Month: Cultural Show & Tell (hosted by the International Student Association), 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, in the Crane MPR. See important Asian cultural items from the Asian/Asian American community.
- AAPI Month: Quick Facts About Japan (Student Engagement), 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, in Crane Room 305. Learn fun facts about Japan, led by student members of the AAPI Planning Committee.
- AAPI Month: Quick Facts About Vietnam (Student Engagement), 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Crane Room 305. Learn fun facts about Vietnam, led by student members of the AAPI Planning Committee.
- AAPI Month: Board Game Night (hosted by the Game Creators’ Guild), 4 p.m. Friday, March 22, Design Studios on Broad Room 142. Learn and play traditional Asian games such as Yut Nori and Bầu cua cá cọp.
- AAPI Month: Boba Night (Student Engagement), 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in Crane Cafe. Enjoy refreshing (and free) boba tea.
- AAPI Month: Dumpling Lunch (Student Engagement), 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, in Crane MPR. Taste-test dumplings from throughout Asia.
- AAPI Month: Screening of Marvelous and the Black Hole (Cult Film Collective), 5 p.m. Thursday, March 28, Canzani Center Screening Room.
- AAPI Month: Cultural Showcase (Student Engagement) 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, in the Canzani Center Auditorium. Catch performances by AAPI groups, including Generations Dabke and Ohio Wushu Academy.
