Artist’s statement
This is a visual biography of what it’s like having a family that shelters their children from the challenging situations of violence, colorism, internal healing, and drugs in Washington, DC. These events informed the artists' individuality into being the strong woman she is today. This exhibition showcases visual stories, opening the viewer's intellect to the actuality that forms the perception of family, the knowledge, and the unknown that will eventually become clear. Portraiture and environmental settings increase the visual dynamic of these moments alongside medium applications to increase the essential aspect of vibrance.
