Beeler Gallery
60 Cleveland Ave.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Beeler Gallery will host an evening of music, dance, stories, and spoken word by artists deeply impacted by mass incarceration. Healing Broken Circles production The BackWall: Art Uncuffed is deepening the conversation around mass incarceration through the lens of the arts, while sharing art and creating community.

The nonprofit organization Healing Broken Circles provides opportunities for people touched by the justice system to heal, learn and thrive by creating new and unprecedented educational, artistic, and  transformative experiences. Their work is steeped in the understanding that uplifting the voices, stories, talents, skills, expertise, and the strong sense of purpose of people who are incarcerated and formerly incarcerated promotes equity, empathy, and builds healthier communities for us all.

The BackWall performers have experienced incarceration first hand or are from communities most deeply impacted by mass incarceration. Their performance comes in conjunction with Michael Mercil: Some Thing(s), on view at Beeler Gallery through Friday, Feb. 24. As part of the exhibition's programming, CCAD is providing meeting and program space for a variety of community activities and performances.
