Columbus College of Art & Design, prompted by a student body survey of technology habits and usage, will host its first Unplugged Day on Wednesday, Feb. 13. During this digital communication blackout day, students, staff, and faculty will be encouraged to give their minds and bodies a break from their devices. (That means no emails, no texts, and no posting on social.)

Unplugged Day will include an event in Crane Center, where students, staff, and faculty will be encouraged to “post on our wall”—that is, respond to a prompt using sticky notes affixed to Crane’s windows. We’ll also have materials to make Valentines to take home.

Unplugged Day was developed after a Student Government Association survey provided new perspective on how often students are “plugged in,” and how that might be impacting their overall health. The day is intended to help the campus community refocus and gain clarity without the distraction of devices and is part of overall efforts to support CCAD student wellness.
