Robert Loss is an Associate Professor in the Writing, Literature, and Philosophy department. His multidisciplinary practice focuses on fiction and non-fiction, comics studies, popular music studies, and American studies. He is the author of Nothing Has Been Done Before: Seeking the New in 21st Century American Popular Music (Bloomsbury Academic, 2017). His criticism has appeared in an array of publications including The Los Angeles Review of Books, PopMatters, Public Books, The Comics Journal, The Comics Grid, and The International Journal of Comic Arts. His fiction has been published in journals such as 2 Bridges Review, Filigree, and Mayday. He's presented at numerous conferences, including, most recently, the Prince from Minneapolis conference at the University of Minnesota. He teaches Writing Fiction, American Literature for the New Century, The Literature of Comics, and co-teaches Comics and Narrative Illustration. He received a BA in English from Ohio Wes leyan University in 1996 and an MFA in English from The Ohio State University in 2005.
