Thom studied illustration and animation while earning his BFA (2004) and MFA (2015) from Columbus College of Art & Design. Thom has worked as an illustrator since 2002. He specializes in narrative- and character-driven illustration.

Thom has been a faculty member at Columbus College of Art & Design since 2009. His courses have included Intro to Illustration, Motion for Illustration, Traditional Media Illustration, Self Promotion for Illustrators, Portfolio Development, and Illustration Workshop.

Thom is a proud member of Blockfort artist studio. Thom's work appears regularly in a variety of locally, nationally, and internationally distributed magazines and newspapers. Thom also creates illustrations and artwork for murals, album covers, apparel graphics, event signage, product packaging, books, event features, and gallery exhibits. Thom's clients have included The Bear Deluxe, Bitch, Beer Advocate, Seven Days, ChemMatters, Gravity Project, Independents Day Festival, Blockfort, Alley Islands, Art Whino gallery, and the Gateway Film Center gallery.
