The awards season is upon us, and the Oscar nominees have been announced. With so many of our alumni working in the film and animation industry, it's no surprise that some of the nominated films include CCAD talent in their credits.

Media Studies alumnus Steve Hubbard (CCAD 2010) worked on the animation for Life of Pi, which was nominated in eight categories, including Best Picture and Visual Effects.

Illustration alumnus and adjunct faculty Brian Williams (CCAD 2003) had his illustration Great Auk recently featured in ARTnews.

The article discussed artists’ portrayals of birds, from the chronicling of bird species in the early 1800s to more recent pop culture illustrations like Williams’.

The illustrated cookbook They Draw & Cook, co-created by Fashion Design alumna Salli Swindell (CCAD 1981) and her brother Nate Padavick, was reviewed in Gastronomic, a magazine that discusses food and culture.

Illustration alumna Shannon Bonatakis (CCAD 2004) has a solo exhibition, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, at Rivet, a designer toy and fine art gallery in the Short North, Columbus' arts district, Nov. 3–Nov. 28.

Illustration alumnus Dean Mitchell (CCAD 1980) will debut an exhibition with Cutter & Cutter Fine Art at their Brilliance in Color Gallery in St. Augustine, FL, March 2013.

Attention everyone, drum roll... the 2012 Alumni Award for Excellence goes to Illustration alumnus Dan Scanlon (CCAD 1998).

Scanlon will be making his directorial debut with Pixar’s Monsters University next year, and there is already buzz about both his work and the animated movie, including a nod from the LA Times.
