Industrial design senior creates new kicks
Students received a real-world lesson in shoe design in the fall 2016 semester with a project that saw them conceiving of a new design for Sitrana, a Santiago, Chile-based leather goods company specializing in men’s footwear.

CCAD students win big in design competition
Each year, hundreds of people, including professional engineers and designers, participate in FirstBuild’s hackathon in Louisville, Kentucky.
This year, 10 Industrial Design students and one Interior Design student from Columbus College of Art & Design joined the competition, working on four teams — three of which took home a total of $8,600 in prizes.

From Industrial Design student to restaurateur
Jen Marlatt is the co-owner of a wildly popular restaurant in Columbus’ Short North arts district. And the flexibility of the vibrant and active arts district combined with the lessons she learned as a student at Columbus College of Art & Design were two keys to her success.
“When I arrived at CCAD, I was, like, I know nothing. I was trying to be a sponge and absorb as much as I could,” Marlatt recounted. “[Now] I can't not look at something and see a creative [solution] or purpose.”

Vintage axes make the cut for 2 design alums
Cori and Benjamin Rowley met while studying at CCAD and found their creative (and romantic) fortunes entwined almost from the start. Today, they co-own Yellowood Design, where they restore and design vintage and antique axes, hatchets and other blades, while working other full-time jobs and raising a family.
