Alumna depicts Columbus signage in solo painting show
Oil paintings by Illustration alumna Amanda Hope Cook (CCAD 1999) will be on display in a solo exhibition titled C-Bus at Sharon Weiss Gallery from May 2 through June 1.
The works in the show depict iconic signature Columbus signs, such as those at Rife’s Market and Fireproof Warehouse & Storage Company.
“I am fascinated by the hidden beauty found in neon signage,” Cook said. Her goal is to “take the viewer beyond the literal wording of a sign and emphasize the subtleties of light, shadow, color, and shape.”
In addition to Sharon Weiss Gallery, Cook is also represented by galleries in Nashville, TN, and Asheville, NC.
An artist’s reception will be held May 2 from 6–8 p.m. at Sharon Weiss Gallery, 20 E. Lincoln St., Columbus, OH, 43215.
Cook is from Goodlettsville, TN, and attended Hunters Lane High School.
