Alumna part of Cultural Arts Center exhibition
Work by Fine Arts alumna Erin McKenna (CCAD 2012) is now on display in bud & rot, a two-artist exhibition with Dana Lynn Harper at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center that continues through March 8.
The show was recently featured in an article in the Columbus Dispatch. The work in it focuses on a shared source of inspiration: anxiety.
Many of McKenna's works in the show relate to by anxiety-ridden dreams she had about foreign objects in her mouth and about her teeth rotting and falling out.
"[McKenna] evokes these dreams in the video work Rock Biter and connects them to her sculptural practice through works featuring large, gleaming teeth made of fiberglass-coated foam," wrote Melissa Starker in the Columbus Dispatch article. "Her work is strikingly meticulous."
Bud & rot continues through March 8 in the Cultural Arts Center, 139 W. Main St., Columbus, OH, 43215. Gallery hours are Mondays 1–4 p.m. and 7–10 p.m., Tuesday–Thursday 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and 7–10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays 9 a.m.–4 p.m. For more information visit www.culturalarts centeronline.org.
McKenna is from Columbus, OH, and attended Westerville North High School.
