Alumni, faculty named finalists for Media Arts Fellowship
Media Studies Still-Based alumnus Mike Olenick (2000), MFA alumna Pamela Theodotou (2013), and Assistant Professor of Cinematic Arts Phil Garrett were among eight finalists for the 2013 Media Arts Fellowship, presented by the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Film Council.
The final fellowship decisions will be made by visiting filmmakers John Haptas and Kristine Samuelson during an awards ceremony hosted by the Columbus International Film + Video Festival on Nov. 16 at CCAD's Canzani Center. Three awards are available: one for $3,500 and two for $1,500.
Twenty-three applicants were evaluated based on the artistic merit of the work submitted.
Since GCAC's Arts Fellowships began in 1986, more than 160 artists have received awards in a variety of disciplines, including visual arts, crafts, film and video, creative writing, music composition, and choreography/movement arts.
Olenick is from Montgomery, OH, and attended Sycamore High School; Theodotou is from London, OH; and Garrett is from Worthington, OH.
