Sanwal Deen (Master of Fine Arts, 2017) is an award-winning photographer from Pakistan whose work, which is inspired by cinema, graphic design, and Sufi mysticism, has been exhibited in group shows in London and Columbus. While Seattle-based Deen has now hit his artistic stride and works as a full-time digital designer, in addition to his artistic practice, that status did not come easy. In a recent interview with Communications Arts, Deen shares his career trajectory, which led him to Columbus College of Art & Design when he realized a career in investment banking wasn’t for him. Check out the full interview to learn about one of Deen’s favorite and most vulnerable projects, “Postcard Dreams,” his artistic influences, and his aspirations, including adding more 3D models to his work.
