Fashion Design Chair talks diversity on WOSU

Rihanna became the first black woman to lead a luxury fashion house in May, with the announcement that her clothing brand, Fenty, would join LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s largest luxury goods group.

But Rihanna is more the exception than the rule in fashion, according to WOSU Public Media’s All Sides with Ann Fisher, which reported that a survey released earlier this year from the Council of Fashion Designers of America that found 41% of respondents rated their fashion company 3 out of 5 on in-house diversity at their company.  

Columbus College of Art & Design Fashion Design Chair and Associate Professor Suzanne Cotton joined a panel of other experts—Refinery 29 Deputy Fashion Director Jessica Andrews and Amammre CEO and Designer Esther Sands—in discussing issues surrounding diversity in fashion with WOSU and its listeners.
