National Geographic loves Columbus and here's why
Columbus is a smart and open city with a vibrant creative economy. You can make your art and design here —and make a living. Plus, you can score awesome food, check out cool festivals and drink some amazing coffee.
In short: We love it here.
And so does National Geographic.
The magazine recently wrote a swoon-worthy piece about our hometown, praising everything from Columbus' status as a fashion hub to the city's graphic art cred.
"After New York and Los Angeles, Columbus is home to more fashion designers than any other U.S. metropolis," writer Andrew Nelson pointed out. "In addition to being the center of operations for Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria's Secret, the city boasts a farm-to-fashion ecosystem that feeds off a steady stream of fresh talent from its renowned Columbus College of Art & Design."
Plus, Nelson went on to say, Columbus is "hitting the mark with makers," including CCAD alums Emily Brown and Brian Kellett, who run a curated plant shop called STUMP in the Italian Village neighborhood.
"And the relatively new Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC)—a fitting continuation of Thurber's legacy—is fast becoming the SXSW for graphic artists."
