Royal Dunlap (Illustration, 2019) has been chosen to illustrate a variant cover for the first issue of the new Buffy The Vampire Slayer monthly comic book series, which will debut from BOOM! Studios and 20th Century Fox in January 2019. Read more here.

Zombies (aka CCAD Community Education students) from our special effects makeup class, taught by instructor Todd Reed, will be featured in an upcoming episode of Broad & High on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. on WOSU-PBS. It will also air on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 9:30 a.m. The episode will be available online at wosu.org/BroadAndHigh, as well as the series’ YouTube channel, Facebook page, and WOSU Public Media mobile app. Read more here.

The landscape paintings and career of Dean Mitchell (Illustration, 1980) were featured in the November 2018 issue of Southwest Art magazine, which wrote, “His compositions are arresting and his works impeccably executed, some in watercolor and others in oil or acrylic.” Read more here.

Columbus CEO magazine recently featured President Melanie Corn in an article about overcoming cultural barriers in business. Corn discussed the diversity of both students and faculty at CCAD and the college’s focused initiatives to increase that diversity in the future. Read more here.

Artsy Shark featured what it called the “fascinating portfolio” and creative journey of Terri Albanese (Advertising & Graphic Design, 1980), who creates mosaics by painting with glass. Read more here.

The debut of the brand SESlines by Maya Eigel (Fashion Design, 2015) starred in the ninth annual Finale Runway Show of Fashion Week Columbus. After graduating from CCAD, Eigel went to China to research sustainable ways to manufacture clothing, writes The Lantern, and the work inspired her new brand’s collection. SESlines’ prints were inspired by endangered species, and revenue from each piece will benefit the species to which they bring attention. Read more here.

In anticipation of Downtown Arts Sunday, media sponsor Columbus Underground highlighted the myriad art venues participating in the inaugural event, including CCAD’s Beeler Gallery. Programming on campus includes the launch of a book acquisition initiative called second shelf and a Harlem Renaissance poetry reading. Read more here.

The Saturday Morning Art Classes Exhibition has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17. The annual show features work created by students in CCAD's weekend community education classes and includes paintings, drawings, ceramics, animation, digital art, and more.
