Here’s a heads up on the construction coming to campus this spring, which will make CCAD more beautiful and safe, as well as myriad mentions of CCAD student, alumni, and faculty work in local media including Columbus Alive, Columbus Underground, and The Lantern. Get the skinny on what’s happening on campus, in Columbus, and points well beyond.


Construction is coming to CCAD this spring as part of a City of Columbus initiative called Creative Campus. From 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 15, in Canzani Center Auditorium, we'll dig into the details. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to this brief presentation about the upcoming construction at CCAD that will make our campus more beautiful and safe. Read more here.

A new exhibition of work by Daric Gill (Fine Arts, 2004) at Capital University’s Schumacher Gallery was spotlighted in The Lantern. The Absolutes by Daric M. Gill, which explores his interest in western iconography and symbols, is on view through March 28. Read more here.

The Lantern also highlighted the photography of Sahar Fadaian (Master of Fine Arts, 2019) on view now at Third Way Cafe’s pop-up gallery. Fadaian, who is an Iranian immigrant, led this project that features young local DACA Dreamers and their experiences in America. Read more here.

Columbus Underground reviewed Fine Arts Professor Tim Rietenbach’s exhibition of works that respond to life in the Trump era. “In Fake,” the reviewer writes, “Rietenbach pairs his restrained aesthetic sense with a wry worldview to create works that are as thought-provoking as they are visually engaging.” Read more here.

Columbus Alive also recently wrote about Soulshine Tavern, a hot new addition to the local dining scene that CCAD alumni, students, and faculty were influential in getting off the ground. Emeritus Dean of Faculty Char Norman and Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts Anita Dawson have an exhibition, Convergence, at Ohio Dominican University’s Wehrle Gallery, on view through March 31. The new works explore their longtime friendship and creative partnership, cultural influences, and the current political climate. Read more here.

The work of CCAD student artists and designers have recently been recognized by some prestigious organizations, including the International Festival & Events Association’s Pinnacle Awards and the 2017 Winsell Rotational Molding Student Product Design Competition. Read more here.

The short film titled Collision, created by a team of CCAD students and an alum, was selected from some fierce competition to be shown on COSI’s fulldome screen as part of the IMERSA 2018 Summit’s Art Matters programming at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. Read more here.

Fine arts conservator Joyce Greco (Advertising & Graphic Design, 1981) was featured in The Ellsworth American newspaper for her work restoring historical paintings damaged by a 2014 fire at Birdsacre-Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary. The nonprofit’s president said her work “bordered on a miracle.” Read more here.

The Chautauqua Art Exhibition that will run through Feb. 16 at Eastern Kentucky University was juried by mixed media artist Tamie Beldue (Fine Arts, 1996), who selected diverse works from 40 artists representing 25 states for this national exhibition. Read more here.

David Love (Fine Arts, 1984), who currently serves as head of the art program at Germantown Academy in Pennsylvania, also juried a show, The Phillips’ Mill Community Association’s 5th Youth Art Exhibition. Read more here.
