To preview this week’s opening of Collision: 2018 MFA Thesis Exhibition, Columbus Alive featured Anita Maharjan (MFA, 2018), whose work borrows from traditional Nepali weaving techniques. She also employs waste and discarded items such as bed sheets, grocery bags, and paper towels in her weaving, ”merging traditional Nepali culture with modern, Western commodity culture.“ Read more here.

Two CCAD faculty members and a CCAD alum will have work on view in Women to Watch Ohio ““ 2018, coming up at the Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery May 3““July 7. Visiting faculty Carol Boram-Hays, Fine Arts Chair Kelly Malec-Kosak, and Olga Ziemska (Fine Arts, 2000) are among the artists with work in the exhibition. It will showcase the work of 10 Ohio women working with metal through sculpture, installation, jewelry, and two-dimensional works. Read more here.

Printed Matter has published a book by Pallavi Sen (Fine Arts, 2011) called Dead Planet Cookbook, an anti-packaging food waste, pro clean plate, pro small budget, climate aware cooking project for first time cooks living in the Anthropocene. Read more here.
Columbus Underground ran a preview of the 2018 CCAD Fashion Show with spotlights on student designers Chelsea Funk, Erica Rodney, Luyao Zhang, Hsunyin Chang, Natalia Monserrate, and Kathryn Geraci. The story included photographs of some incredible work from student collections that made the cut to be in the runway show. Read more here.
Associate Professor and poet/essayist Lesley Jenike will read new work with visiting poet Dan Albergotti of Coastal Carolina University at Two Dollar Radio Books on April 7 starting at 7 p.m. Read more here.
Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Graduate Studies Molly Burke (Fine Arts, 2006) will present work alongside two other emerging Ohio-based glass artists, Trey Snowdon and Lauren Eastman, at Sherrie Gallerie April 15““May 26. The work for the exhibition, titled Further, explores the future of contemporary glass using a variety of new media and fresh techniques. The opening reception is from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 15. Last year, DACA Time was born in the CCAD MindMarket at GiveBackHack. The software nonprofit helps make the immigration experience easier. Its newest project, Dreamers of Columbus, is an exhibition that features the work of CCAD graduate student and photojournalist Sahar Fadaian and journalist Leticia Wiggins of DACA recipients living in Columbus. It will be shown in the Columbus Library, Broad Street Presbyterian Church, and at Wild Goose Creative. An interactive roundtable event where Dreamers will tell their stories, discuss the exhibition, and also recount DACA Time's formation at the MindMarket, will be held at the CCAD MindMarket Collaboration Space on Saturday, April 14.
