Faculty Soup Talk: Katie Davis & Dr. Michael Kellner

Faculty Soup Talks, which feature lunchtime presentations from CCAD faculty members (accompanied by a light meal of soup for attendees) are hosted by CCAD's Faculty Development & Outreach Committee. The talks are open to CCAD faculty, staff, and students.

On Nov. 29, hear from Katie Davis, visiting professor in CORE Studies, and Dr. Michael Kellner, Director of CORE First-Year Studies.

Davis will discuss her experience at The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn, an experience supported by a faculty enrichment grant. Davis also will share her knowledge of “the art hustle,” how she navigates brick and mortar gallery representation versus selling work directly to the buyer, as well as an update on her newest body of work and her upcoming trip to Miami Basel, where she is showing work at a side fair with KArt Projects.

Dr. Michael Kellner, director of CORE First Year Studies program, will present samples from two ongoing bodies. One series of works focuses on J.S. Bach's 15 Two-part Inventions, a pedagogical piano score composed to train students in "proper" playing methods. The other series of works is a mail art project with Austin, Texas-based artist Alexandra Robinson that began in 2015 and will be exhibited in its most recent form at the King Street Galley in Maryland in February 2023.

Faculty members with interest in participating in future talks can reach out to Director of CORE Studies Michael Kellner at [email protected].
