The first year

Academic Advising

  • Register for Courses and see your Academic Advisor once a semester. See below for more details!
    • What do I see my academic advisor for?
      • Students often meet with their advisor to review their academic plan, prepare a course schedule, identify academic goals, discuss academic concerns, and declare a major or minor. Your advisor is a great place to start if you have questions and you’re not sure where to go.
    • When should I see my academic advisor?
      • You should make an advising appointment every semester to review your academic plan and ensure you are on track to graduate.
    • Who is my academic advisor and how do I make an appointment with them?
      • You can view more information about the Advising Office and make appointments with your advisor at MyCCAD.
    • How do I know when I am eligible to register for courses?
      • You can view registration dates on the academic calendar at MyCCAD. You should also read your MyCCAD emails carefully for registration information and other important campus news.

Career Services

  • Look for an on campus job
    • On-campus jobs are advertised on the CCAD job board at www.ccadcareers.com. You have an account! See below for info on how to login. On-campus jobs are typically posted a few weeks before the start of each semester. There tend to be more on-campus jobs open before fall semester than spring semester, so check early!
    • All full-time enrolled students are given an account on the job board at www.ccadcareers.com. Note that your login credentials are not automatically the same as what you use to login to other CCAD services. To access, use your full @go.ccad.edu email address as your username. This includes the @go.ccad.edu part. You should click ‘forgot password’ when logging on for the first time. The system will send you an email with a link to create your password.
  • Get advice on your future career
    • We welcome students of all class levels to come see us and chat. We have recommendations on what you should do your first year, sophomore, junior and senior years to steadily progress toward your career goals. That means meeting with us early is always better to get on track and start setting some goals. We help students find all kinds of jobs: on-campus jobs, part-time jobs, internships, freelance positions, full-time jobs and we also help prepare students who are pursuing graduate school.
    • The Career Services office shares advice on building a successful career through many different means. You can hear advice from alumni, employers and faculty any time on-demand via the office’s podcast called First, You Hustle. Find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Podbean. These podcast episodes are a great way to learn about a topic and then follow up with our office for more discussion. Also, check the events calendar for Career Services workshops and employer visits throughout the semester. You may also occasionally hear from Career Services in your classes when we visit. You are also welcome to talk with us in our office located on the 1st floor of DSB during walk-in hours or by appointment.
    • Career Services has walk-in hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am-12pm. No appointment is needed. Just walk-in to the Career Services office on the 1st floor of DSB during that time for quick questions. Longer appointments can be scheduled via the www.ccadcareers.com job board. Once logged in, click ‘Request a Counseling Appointment’ on the right-side shortcuts menu. If you need assistance, email us at [email protected] or call 614-222-4045.

Safety and Security

  • Make sure to have Safety and Security’s information.
    • We are located in the Administration Building at 107 N 9th St.  We’re located immediately east of the Loann Crane, and behind (north) of the Schottenstein Residence Hall.
    • Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., but officers are always on duty – 24/7/365!  You can always reach a Security staff member at 614.222.6165.
  • Have a car? Get your parking permit!
    • The permits are issued from our office, but payment must be made before picking up your new permit.  Most payments are made at Student Central (Crane Center), but you can also use our ePayment service.  Please contact our One Stop staff at 614.222.3295 to learn more about the payment options.
    • The campus map specifies student parking options.  You can pick up a map in the Security Office, or click here. Two lots are restricted to employee parking – the lot on the east side of the Administration Building, and the lot on the north side of the AMF Building.  The lot on the SW corner of Gay St and Cleveland Ave is restricted employees and to those with overnight parking permits.  There is signage at each lot indicating if that lot has limited parking to employees or overnight parkers.  Students can also park in any of the student lots owned by the Columbus State Community College’s until 2:00 a.m. through 5/15/2015.
  • Make sure to keep track of your ID!
    • Replacement ID’s are $30.  We don’t accept payments in the Security Office.  Payments can be made at Student Central (Crane Center) or through our ePayment service.  Please contact Student Central staff at 614.222.3295 for details and questions about payment options.
  • Need an escort to your location?
    • We do provide escorts across the campus for safety and security purposes.  Students can contact the Security Department at 614.222.6165 at any time if they feel uncomfortable moving through campus.  An officer will then meet the student at his/her location and escort them safely though the campus.  For medical or safety purposes we will provide escorts to off campus locations within our established boundaries.  These boundaries are Spring St to the north, Main St to the south, Parsons Ave to the east and High St to the west.
  • Locate the Emergency phones
    • There are 9 exterior emergency phone boxes located strategically throughout campus.  They are easily seen because a bright blue light is over each of them.  Their locations are shown on our campus map. There are also 17 silver phones located in the common areas of many of our buildings that are meant to be used for emergency calls.
  • Register for emergency updates from CCAD!
    • We call it the CCAD Alert Emergency Notification System.  Through CCAD Alert, CCAD can contact you or a family member in the event of a campus emergency by cell phone, email, and/or text messaging. Registration is easy.  Read about it and register here.
