Daily health checks begin today

Are you a student who is eligible to access campus? If so, you have received a communication with details related to the required daily, self-administered screening checks and how to use the Rave Guardian app. Those checks begin today, Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Accessing CCAD facilities

Don’t forget: All upperclass students and graduate students will have access to CCAD’s facilities and equipment during spring semester, should they want it. Study spaces, computers, shops, and other facilities are available on a reservation-only, first-come, first-served basis through the web-based program, YouCanBook.Me. Reservation requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance so all students who choose to access campus can be accounted for in CCAD's random COVID-19 testing pool.

CCAD's Safety & Security team will be monitoring campus to ensure that everyone who is accessing campus has reserved space in advance.

Get free, fresh produce

Through a grant from the state of Ohio, CCAD and the Counseling & Wellness Center are partnering with Yellowbird Foodshed to offer free boxes of fresh produce on a weekly basis. Starting Thursday, Jan 28, these boxes of nutritious, local food will be available for pickup on a first come, first-served basis with your CCAD Student ID. We will monitor interest and demand each week and work with Yellowbird to increase the number of boxes available as needed.

Pick up your box (limited to one per person with CCAD Student ID) at Ampersand Emporium from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Today is the first day of November

See work by 12 emerging Columbus-based and international artists as Beeler Gallery reopens today, Tuesday, Jan. 19, with a new lens-based exhibition curated by CCAD alum Heather Taylor (Cinematic Arts, 2015). The exhibition is named November, in honor of its original opening date (the show was postponed because of COVID-19). Though the date has shifted, its name remains as an homage to and a reminder of the ominous tone struck by 2020. November is part of a collaboration with the Cincinnati-based nonprofit arts organization FotoFocus.

Beeler Gallery has numerous new health and safety protocols in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including timed admission tickets, face mask requirements for visitors and staff, limitations to the number of visitors allowed in the gallery at a given time, social distancing requirements, and enhanced cleaning procedures. CCAD will follow guidelines set by the state of Ohio regarding COVID-19 prevention, which may impact plans for November.

The exhibition is free and open to the public, but advance reservations are required.

Visiting Artists & Scholars: Nell Irvin Painter

CCAD welcomes world-renowned historian and scholar Nell Irvin Painter to campus virtually as part of our Visiting Artists & Scholars Series at 6:30 p.m. (EST) Thursday, Feb. 4. Painter, a Professor Emeritus at Princeton University, has authored seven books and countless articles, including Creating Black Americans, Southern History Across Color Lines, and the landmark The History of White People.

After retiring from Princeton, Painter returned to the classroom, earning a BFA and an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, going on to write Old in Art School: A Memoir of Starting Over. At CCAD, Painter will share her reflections on art school and discuss her new exhibition, American Whiteness Since Trump. Attendance is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required
