Spring semester registration

Friendly reminder: Registration for the spring semester is on pause until this Wednesday, Nov. 18. The deadline for registration (adding courses) for spring 2021 is 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.


Gobble, gobble

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, CCAD offices will be closed and no classes will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25–Friday, Nov. 27. While we can’t celebrate our campus traditions this year, such as the annual Thanksgiving luncheon (with food served up by faculty and staff), we look forward to celebrating with you next year! In the meantime, visit ccad.edu/thanksgiving2020 after Friday, Nov. 20, to check out favorite holiday recipes from CCAD faculty and staff—you might find inspiration for your own meal!


CCAD goes live: Namita Gupta Wiggers

Educator, curator, and writer Namita Gupta Wiggers and Dean of Graduate Studies Jennifer Schlueter will join each other for an CCAD Goes Live conversation on CCAD’s Instagram channel (@ccadedu) Monday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m. (EST). Gupta Wiggers is the Director of the Master of Arts in Critical Craft Studies program at Warren Wilson College, the first low-residency graduate program to focus on this field. She is the Director and Co-Founder of Critical Craft Forum, which offers real-time conversations about critical issues of interest to the field.

Support your peers, enhance the CCAD community, strengthen your leadership skills, and work on a dynamic team—apply now to be a Resident Advisor for the 2021–2022 academic year! Applicants must meet general GPA requirements; a complete RA application also includes an updated resume and the completion of four essay questions. The position requires 15–20 hours/week, and RAs are compensated via residential space, a meal plan, and a parking pass.
 
Info sessions for prospective RAs will be held online at 11 a.m. (EST) Thursday, Nov. 19, and 4 p.m. (EST) Friday, Dec. 4.

Trivia pursuits

Julie Wagner of @wagneredtrivia hosts a virtual, themed movie trivia night for CCAD: Student Engagement presents: Netflix Orginal Movie Trivia on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. (EST). Students can play alone or in teams, and the winners of each trivia session will receive a $25 gift card for their team. Please make sure you sign up for the trivia session by the day of the event.


Winter Art Fair is coming

Save the date for the virtual 2020 CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace noon Friday, Dec. 4 through 11:59 p.m. (EST) Sunday, Dec. 6. All items are made by CCAD students and alumni and all sale proceeds go directly to the artists, designers, and makers.

Upcoming Visiting Artist

Save the date: LA-based artist and educator Audrey Chan will take the virtual stage Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. (EST) as part of CCAD’s ongoing Visiting Artists & Scholars Series. Chan will discuss the role of art and storytelling in the fight for social justice.

How has your creative practice changed since the COVID-19 pandemic began? Weirdly enough, I find myself creating more work off of my laptop than pre-COVID-19. It's a nice escape from all of the Teams/Zoom calls and online work.
